Leave Me In Your Fantasy Poem

Leave me in your fantasy

(1/25/2020)

If you see my body

As something new and exciting, exotic even.

‘...oooh I want to try a black girl,’

Then leave me in your fantasy.

If you prefer black features

On white bodies

And do not see the deep

Racism in this,

Then leave me in your fantasy.

If you say you love black

Bodies,

Say you love My body.

But have no intention on

Fighting against the systems

That are killing our bodies,

Dehumanizing my body.

Then leave me in your fantasy.

If you celebrate black girl magic,

But black girl pain means nothing to you,

OR

If you believe my role

Is to sideline my dreams

In the pursuit of yours,

Then leave me in your fantasy.

And If you can not come to terms

With the privileges you hold

Because of sexism and patriarchy,

Yes, in spite of our shared oppression,

Due of racism and white supremacy,

Then leave me in your fantasy.

Yet, if you do not fear complexity,

are in tune with your own vulnerability,

and give a damn about my humanity,

Then I welcome you into my fantasy.
